The use of the website https://www.snf.org (hereinafter the “website”), as well as the terms and conditions of information provided by us, are governed by the present document. By using this website, you accept the following terms and conditions and are bound by them. Please check the content of these terms and conditions regularly, as we reserve the right to modify them at any time according to the applicable legislation.
This website is managed by the Stavros Niarchos Foundation (SNF). Its contents are the property of the Stavros S. Niarchos Foundation for Charity (also known as the Stavros Niarchos Foundation or SNF), which is incorporated in Bermuda as a nonprofit organization for charitable purposes and has offices in New York, Monaco and Athens.
The SNF does not control third parties’ websites to which it provides links and is not liable for their content. The links to other websites are provided for the convenience of our visitors, without this implying any relationship between the SNF and their owners or operators, nor any guarantee as to the quality or accuracy of the information contained in the third parties’ websites. PERSONAL DATA PROTECTION POLICY
This present Policy intends to provide you with information on how your personal data is being processed through the website https://www.snf.org. Data Controller is the Greek SNF office, located in Athens at 86A Vasilissis Sofias Ave., PO Box 115 28, tel. +30 2108778300 (“Data Controller”).
The processing of personal data of the users of this website is governed by these terms, by the relevant provisions of the applicable legislation on personal data and by the relevant decisions, instructions and regulatory acts of the Hellenic Data Protection Authority (hereinafter the “HDPA”).
- Which personal data do we collect?
The registration of personal data is not required in order to browse the website. However, the Data Controller may collect and further process the following personal data categories:
- When you register to participate in various SNF events, e.g., SNF Dialogues, SNF Nostos or other events that may be organized in the context of SNF’s mission, the Data Controller collects personal data, including your name, last name, email address and professional status.
- When you subscribe to the list of the SNF newsletters recipients, the Data Controller collects personal data, including your name, last name and email address. By subscribing to this list, you consent to receive newsletters and other additional informational material regarding SNF’s activities. If you expressly consent to receive updates as described above, your personal data will be retained for indefinite term, until you withdraw your consent and request the cessation of receiving updates and processing of your personal data by selecting the “unsubscribe” link, available on each update you receive.
- In the context of our grantmaking activities, the Data Controller collects and processes your personal data pursuant to the “Notice on the Processing of Personal Data Collected in the Context of Grant Making Activities”, which can be found uploaded here.
- When you submit your application for participation in the Internship Program, the Data Controller collects and processes personal data, including the information of your Curriculum Vitae (CV) and application form.
- The Data Controller may collect and process image or video data, generated through or collected from CCTV equipment at our premises or during our various events.
- For what purposes do we collect your personal data?
We take care to collect only the necessary personal data, that is appropriate and clear for its intended purposes, and it is not subject to any further processing in any way incompatible with the purposes originally collected. Indicatively, we collect and process your personal data:
- for sending of information material and general information on new SNF grants, initiatives and events,
- for your participation in various SNF events,
- to ensure SNF’s premises and personnel safety and security,
- for the assessment of grant requests,
- for a possible collaboration with you, and
- for executing a contract to which you are a party.
- How long do we keep your personal data?
We ensure that the personal data we collect is processed for no longer than it is required for the fulfilment of the purpose of processing, always in conjunction with the applicable legislation. The basic criteria that we take into account when determining the retention period for your personal data are the time limitation of claims determined by law and the time limits within which a public authority may require us to provide them with information that we hold in our records.
- What is the legal basis for the processing of your personal data?
- The execution of a contract (e.g., when you participate in an event),
- Your consent, where appropriate, for one or more purposes (e.g., when subscribing in SNF’s newsletter),
- Compliance with the obligations imposed by the Law (e.g., when we need to notify our partners contact details to tax authorities), and
- The ultimate legitimate interest of SNF (e.g., when we record your image through a CCTV to ensure the safety and security of our personnel and premises).
- With whom do we share your personal data?
As a rule, the data you provide us with is not disclosed to third parties and is in no way made public or in any way exploited. In exceptional cases, your personal data may be transmitted to third-party service providers, who process your personal data solely for the fulfillment of their obligations. In this case, the third parties (such as third-party service providers, security services consultants etc.) act as Data Processors on behalf of the Data Controller and are contractually bound to implement adequate technical and organizational security measures in accordance with applicable legislation.
As a rule, we do not transfer your personal data outside the European Economic Area (EEA) and if we do, we ensure that the transfer is lawful and has the appropriate safeguards as set out in the General Data Protection Regulation 679/2016/ΕΕ (GDPR).
Also, the Data Controller may disclose your personal information in the following cases: (a) When it has your explicit consent to publish your data in any way, (b) if such disclosure is required to exercise SNF’s rights, or (c) if it is required by law, a court order or any other government or regulatory authority.
- How do we ensure that Data Processors respect your personal data?
Data Processors, on behalf of the Data Controller, have agreed and are contractually bound with us and among others:
- To keep confidentiality,
- To not share data with third parties without the Data Controller’s consent or use them for their personal benefit,
- To take appropriate safety measures (technical and organizational measures),
- To comply with the legal framework for the protection of personal data and especially the GDPR provisions and the applicable legislation.
- What are your rights?
- Right of access: This means that you have the right to be informed by us if we are processing your personal data. If we are processing your personal data, you can ask for information about the purpose of processing, the type of data we hold, with whom we share it, how long we store it, but also about your other rights, such as correction, deletion, and submitting a complaint to the HDPA.
- Right to rectification of processing: If you find that there is an error in your personal data, you can request that we correct it (for example, a name correction or an update of an address change).
- Right to erasure: You may ask us to delete your personal data if one of the reasons provided by the applicable legislation is in force.
- Right to data portability: In the event the processing is based on your consent or is required in order to execute a contract with you or is done by automated means, you may ask us to receive, in a readable form, the data you have provided, or ask us to forward it to another controller/processor.
- Right to restriction of processing: You may ask us to restrict the processing of your personal data, if a reason provided by the applicable legislation is in force.
- Right to object: In certain cases, you may object to the processing of your personal data and we will stop processing your personal data, unless there are other compelling and legitimate reasons that prevail over your right. If you have consented to the collection, processing and use of your personal data, you may revoke your consent at any time with future effect.
- Right to lodge a complaint with HDPA: If you believe that we are in breach of the applicable law for the protection of your personal data, you have the right to file a complaint with the HDPA, registered in 1-3 Kifissias Ave., 11523, Athens, Greece.
