Volunteers from Thailand, Laos, and Myanmar train to improve health in remote communities
The second phase of the training program offered by a team from Mahachulalongkornrajavidyalaya University’s Chiang Mai campus has recently concluded. The program seeks to improve community health in remote areas of South East Asia that lack access to hospitals and doctors, reaching around 80 volunteers in total. This second training was held in northern Thailand’s Chiang Mai province and imparted basic health care skills including first aid knowledge to volunteers from Thailand, Laos, and Myanmar, combining them with local healing traditions.
The first phase of the program, a 10-day training in northern Thailand’s Chiang Rai province, reached 39 volunteers from the same countries with training in similar skills. The Stavros Niarchos Foundation (SNF) provided support for the training program as part of its focus on expanding access to essential health resources.
